SCA Health — part of Optum — is hiring an Associate Patient Call Representative to support patients across its national network of surgical centers, specialty clinics, and partner practices. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for patients who need help understanding bills, verifying insurance, obtaining records, making payments, or clarifying procedures.


You’ll handle both inbound and outbound calls, resolve questions whenever possible in a single interaction, and follow up quickly on cases that require additional research. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys patient support, has strong attention to detail, and wants to grow within a mission-driven healthcare organization.



📋 Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound patient calls, resolving billing and account inquiries.

  • Provide one-call resolution whenever possible and complete follow-ups on escalated cases.

  • Return all patient voicemails within 24 hours.

  • Educate patients on Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and billing processes.

  • Collect patient payments and provide requested documentation or records.

  • Meet defined productivity and quality metrics.

  • Review accounts for possible adjustments or refunds.

  • Verify insurance coverage and provide accurate cost estimates.

  • Update demographic information and research missing payments.

  • Review clinical information to determine if coding review is needed.

🧩 Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Strong customer service experience preferred.

  • A/R, billing, insurance verification, or healthcare experience a plus.

  • Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.

  • Comfort with phone-based support and detailed account review.
