Zócalo Health is hiring a Patient Support Specialist to support patient intake, enrollment, and scheduling in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare environment. In this role, you’ll connect with potential and existing patients by phone, educate them about available services, and help guide them through the early stages of their care journey.


This position is ideal for bilingual (English–Spanish) professionals who thrive in high-volume call environments and bring empathy, professionalism, and cultural awareness to every interaction. You’ll play a vital role in expanding access to culturally competent care for Latino and marginalized communities across the U.S.



📋 Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inbound and outbound calls to patients to explain services and assist with enrollment or scheduling.

  • Complete brief intake forms to collect demographic, eligibility, and clinical information accurately.

  • Schedule patient appointments based on provider availability, location, and patient needs.

  • Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics (calls, conversions, appointments).

  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional tone with patients and teammates.

  • Follow scripts and workflows while adapting conversations to individual patient needs.

  • Document all interactions thoroughly and accurately in the EHR system.

  • Collaborate with team members to resolve scheduling or communication issues.

  • Adhere strictly to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.

  • Participate in ongoing training, feedback, and quality assurance sessions.

🧩 Requirements
  • 1–2 years of experience in a contact center, customer service, or patient access role.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and comfort handling high call volumes.

  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to build trust quickly.

  • Ability to meet performance quotas in a structured, metrics-driven environment.

  • Basic computer proficiency; experience with CRM, scheduling tools, or EHR systems preferred.

  • Bilingual (English–Spanish), both written and verbal — required.
