ACU-Serve is seeking a remote DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Documentation Specialist to process orders, manage prior authorizations, and maintain certificates of medical necessity (CMN) for home medical equipment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in DME billing, insurance verification, and prior authorization processes, looking to work in a structured, professional, fully remote environment.
📋 Key Responsibilities
Collect, review, and request medical documentation to support medical necessity for Prior Authorizations.
Submit and maintain prior authorizations and CMNs.
Process documentation for oxygen, sleep therapy, and other durable medical equipment.
Review incoming CMNs and medical records for accuracy.
Resolve stop hold reports and release held revenue to payers.
Communicate effectively with clinicians and office staff regarding required documentation.
Stay up-to-date on Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer rules regarding coverage and prior authorization.
🧩 Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience in durable medical billing or related DME intake processes.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer documentation requirements.
Experience with DME billing software (Brightree preferred).
HS diploma/GED required; additional education in healthcare or medical billing a plus.
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel) and keyboarding proficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented, task-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced remote environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
