Cognizant is seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coding Auditor to join their remote team. This role focuses on reviewing ICD-10 inpatient records, verifying physician documentation, and ensuring accurate coding in compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.

📋 Key Responsibilities
Review ICD-10 inpatient patient records for accuracy and compliance.
Verify physician documentation for diagnoses and procedures.
Communicate with physicians to clarify coding via queries.
Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes using electronic encoder applications (e.g., 3M).
Complete reports and perform peer reviews for coding auditors and coders.
Educate clients on coding, billing, and compliance practices.
Maintain a minimum 98% accuracy rate and meet productivity standards.
Participate in additional reviews, audits, and tasks as assigned.
🧩 Requirements
CCS, RHIT, or RHIA (AHIMA) certification required.
Minimum five years of facility-based auditing experience plus two years of coding, or ten years of coding experience.
Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations.
Strong ability to interpret medical records and chart entries.
Proficiency in MS Office; capable of navigating multiple systems simultaneously.
Excellent communication, organizational, and independent work skills.
Adaptable to change, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking.
