In this fully remote role, you’ll extract and interpret clinical data, assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes, and help optimize revenue integrity for healthcare organizations serving rural and medically underserved communities. This position involves analyzing patient encounters, identifying high-risk coding trends, collaborating with providers, and supporting continuous improvement within the revenue cycle.

📋 Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver accurate, compliant coding services in alignment with payer rules, organizational policies, and official coding guidelines.

  • Extract clinical data from medical records and electronic health systems to support appropriate code assignment.

  • Assign and validate diagnosis and procedure codes for patient encounters with full accuracy and completeness.

  • Review coding to support reimbursement optimization for member clients and ensure claims meet third-party payer requirements.

  • Communicate with providers through Epic In-Basket messaging to clarify documentation and resolve questions.

  • Identify high-risk coding trends and escalate complex issues to supervisors.

  • Recommend process-enhancement opportunities to strengthen coding accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

🧩 Requirements
  • Experience in medical billing and/or coding; revenue cycle experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers’ Comp, and private insurance reimbursement processes preferred.


Required Certifications — Outpatient:

  • AAPC CPC or AHIMA CCS

  • ADCA CDC certification

Required Certifications — Inpatient:

  • CIC or AHIMA Inpatient Certification


Additional requirements:

  • Completion of a 50–60-minute competency assessment prior to team interview.

  • Ability to work independently in a distraction-free home office.

  • Reliable high-speed internet.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% nationally for on-site go-live support (role-dependent).

  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless approved for medical/religious exemption.
